What is SPACE? This 8- week group is designed for parents of children (ages 5–15) struggling with anxiety or OCD-related challenges. Based on the evidence-based SPACE program (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions), developed at the Yale Child Study Center by Dr. Eli Lebowitz, this group empowers parents to support their child’s anxiety in healthier, more effective ways. Through weekly 75-minute sessions, parents will learn how to shift away from “accommodating” behaviors—like excessive reassurance or avoidance—that can unintentionally reinforce anxiety. Instead, you'll discover how to encourage your child to face fears with confidence. By reducing an ‘accommodating’ approach to a child’s anxiety, parents are able to engage in a manner that ultimately enhances the child’s ability to cope with anxious thoughts and feelings.

What can parents expect from this SPACE group? Through group, you will:

  • Gain confidence in parenting your anxious child

  • Develop the tools to to respond supportively without reinforcing anxiety

  • Learn how to more effectively address your child’s anxiety

  • Begin reducing your own accommodating behaviors that may be contributing to your child's anxious patterns

“SPACE has given us so much hope in terms of parenting our anxious child. We feel like we have real, actionable, widely-applicable tools to use that keep us on the same page and are effective and impactful for our child. Erin is an incredible, non-judgmental, compassionate, and knowledgeable facilitator. We are so grateful to her.” - S+K, parents to 10-year-old

“Participating in the SPACE Group was profoundly impactful for our family. The program content was informative, approachable, and practical, and Erin’s professionalism combined with her parent perspective made the experience especially meaningful and relatable. Connecting with other parents in similar situations helped me feel seen, heard, and reassured, and the shared understanding and support were incredibly valuable. The time and financial investment was absolutely worth it as we work to better address our daughter’s challenging behavioral and emotional responses while awaiting formal diagnostic testing with Developmental Medicine.” - K., parent to 4-year-old
